B3IQ / Comparisons

B3IQ vs Hydra Host

Start with the contract you need. B3IQ sells machines you can host or take delivery of. Hydra advertises both rented bare metal and procurement with AI Factory operations. Ownership alone does not distinguish the two.

B3IQ editorial. Sources checked 2026-09-30. Published by B3IQ, a GPU machine seller and hosting provider. This is our assessment of documented offers, not a matched performance test.

Consider B3IQ

Evaluate B3IQ when you want a configured machine purchase, an Oregon hosting option and a clear path between private use and idle-capacity earning.

Consider Hydra Host

Evaluate Hydra when you need a regional bare-metal quote, a reservation or a larger procurement and operating program through Brokkr.

B3IQ vs Hydra Host: on-demand or purchase offers

On-demand offerMachine purchase, not an on-demand GPU-hour offer. SourceOn-demand and interruptible contracts are advertised; request exact terms. Source
What you purchasePurchase the machine; host it with B3IQ or have it shipped. SourceRents dedicated bare metal and also supports hardware procurement and AI Factory operations. Source
Access and operationPrivate compute runs on your account's machines. B3IQ provisions the hardware. SourceDocuments root access and a bare-metal lifecycle API through Brokkr. Source
LocationHosted capacity in Oregon; shipped machines run at your chosen site. SourceRegional deployments; confirm the facility and available configuration in the quote. Source
Stored dataMachine storage is part of its configuration. Backup and migration requirements need a separate plan. SourceStorage configuration and charges require an offer-specific quote. (Confirm with provider.) Source
Data transferConfirm connectivity and transfer terms for your hosting agreement. (Confirm with provider.) SourceTransfer allowance and overage rates were not established for a matching quote. (Confirm with provider.) Source

40-hour experiment

For a 40-hour trial, a Hydra rental quote avoids buying hardware for the experiment. Use the trial to establish model fit and utilization before considering acquisition. Include setup time, storage and any minimum term in the quote.

30 days always on

For a 30-day private workload, compare the entire node and its operating agreement. B3IQ acquisition is an upfront cost; Hydra's rental charge is a recurring cost. A one-month comparison cannot establish long-term ownership savings without hosting, maintenance and resale assumptions.

Multi-GPU workload

Ask both teams for the actual GPU edition, count, NVLink groups and network fabric. An eight-GPU H200 NVL server is not automatically an eight-GPU HGX NVSwitch system. Require a workload test on the proposed topology before signing a cluster contract.

The interactive quote worksheet uses whole-instance rental rates multiplied by 40 hours or 720 hours for a 30-day period, plus entered storage and transfer. Missing inputs are unknown. B3IQ acquisition plus first-month operating costs uses a different purchase unit; it is not a break-even calculation. Taxes, financing, setup costs, future operation and resale are excluded. No hypothetical rental earnings are subtracted.

Ask who owns each operating task

Put hardware replacement, remote access, firmware changes, backups and exit assistance into the same responsibility checklist. Procurement, hosting and a software control plane can be separate line items. Compare the signed scope rather than interpreting either site's product name as a support commitment.

Keep earnings outside a private-use budget

If your own workload occupies the machine all month, do not subtract hypothetical rental earnings from its cost. For mixed use, estimate private hours and sellable hours separately, then apply the applicable hosting deductions and fee schedule.
